Meeting your obligations: Control of Vibration at Work
Sound Advice Safety & Health Limited today launched an innovative new service which will assist Companies in meeting their obligations under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005.
The Cheshire based Company is convinced that they are one of the first Companies in the UK to offer a cost effective management package to reduce the incidence of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Vibration White Finger.
Joan Blease, Sound Advice Safety and Health Limited’s Managing Director said “having to deal with one Company who can see the process through from beginning to end must be beneficial to hard pressed Managers who are looking to comply with the new legislation. It takes time and a certain amount of effort to try and source all the different companies who are needed to deal with the various aspects outlined in the new directive. Once they have “done their bit”, the Manager is left to try and marry up the various bits of information to achieve an end result. Hopefully, from now on by using our new service, Managers don’t have to have that hassel anymore. It’s just one phone call to us and we will do the rest - from the initial risk assessment to the medical assessment by an Occupational Health Specialist”.
The new service will incorporate the tiered approach to health surveilance defined in the latest HSE guidance notes with all aspects being covered by fully qualified professionals.
Vibration white finger and vibration related carpal tunnel syndrome is a real problem in the UK with approximately 3000 new claims being made every year. HAVS can be responsible for substantial physical impairment, disability, handicap and distress. It is hoped that Sound Advice Safety and Health’s new service will go some way in helping to protect both the employer and the employee against this very painful condition
