The Equality Act 2010
On the 1st October 2010 section 60 of the Equality Act came into force. The Equality Act replaces previous legislation (such as the Race Relations Act 1976 and the Disability Act 1995) and ensures consistency in what an employer needs to do to make the workplace a fair working environment and to comply with the law.
Sound Advice Safety and Health Ltd. have modified our existing the Pre-Employment Health Assessment to comply with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
The Act explains that employees can still have a medical assessment to ensure suitability for work and to determine if reasonable adjustments to protect the employees health can be made if required.
It is important to note that the New Starter Work Health Assessment process needs to be completed AFTER an employment offer has been made.
Effective New Starter Work Health Assessments will help employers to ensure that new starters are able to perform their intended role safely.
Sound Advice Safety and Health Ltd. provide a service whereby completed New Starter Work Health Assessment forms, accompanied by a job description, are evaluated by our qualified occupational health advisors.
A certificate will be issued within 5 working days of receipt of the forms, subject to medical conditions and employee contract.
Advice will be offered based on the contents of the forms and contact with the employee (if necessary).
Any adjustments or safer work practices will be proposed to the employer to ensure that the employee's and co-workers health is not put at risk.
